Preparing for Future Student Loans and College
Many students found it difficult last semester finding private student loans. Being that federal aid and loans only go so far … some students and parents are asking themselves if it will be hard to secure enough aid and loans for next semester. This includes private student loans. Will student aid be significantly altered if the Department of Education continues to make additional changes. It might or it might not. It wont likely change the world of private student loans though. A private student loan is based on credit scores, finding a private student loan could be easy or difficult depending one a student’s credit and/or the credit of their co-signer. Chances of approval go up significantly if a student has a cosigner when seeking the private student loan. One factor, often overlooked, is preperation. Many students seem to seek these types of loans last minute and as a last resort. Both parents and students should be prepared ahead of time and once they know how much federal aid and loans they’ve received they will also have the magical number of how much of a private student loan they’ll need. Be prepared. Students not insured in college, consider student health insurance to cover potential accidents.
